Areas of Celebration:
1. I enjoy working with Cyle. He keeps me focused most of the time, and pulls ideas out of my head. He has a good sense of humor. I enjoy spending my days with him, he helps me be more productive.
2. I really like Math class. I used to hate it a bit, but now it is easier to learn formulas. Once you have the formula, you can solve almost any problem. Math content is straightforward and has a tangible end goal. Geometry and Algebra is easy to learn because once you know it, it builds on itself and you can keep learning other stuff. I hope to keep learning math, maybe by taking advanced algebra next year. To be successful in math, I need to pay better attention by locking down my phone. I also need to continue to advocate about my grades and use Khan Academy.
Area of Growth:
I want to improve my initiative and become less lazy about my work. One thing that really inhibits my ability to work is being distracted by the Interweb. I distract myself with the internet to take my mind off of things. I dislike to think hard, analyze and do reading so I go to the computer instead. I also don’t sleep very well, but that is not the only reason why I fall asleep in class. I fall asleep in Humanities class because I don’t like humanities. I don’t like humanities because, we do a lot of book analysis and a lot of written reflections that I don’t like. I do like doing freewrites though. If I don’t have clear instructions or know exactly what to do,st don’t do anything. When I am interested in a subject I will put more work in. I really like math and digital arts, I also like biology, but the warm ups can get tedious. I lack interest and engagement in humanities because I don’t usually know what to do or what to write. Even if I know the assignment it usually requires deep thought and analysis that is uninteresting and difficult for me.
Solutions:
One thing that I will commit to trying for one week is powering off my phone and computer one hour before I go to sleep. This could help me sleep better and maybe have more energy in classes.
Question:
How do I change my habits to become successful in the workplace?
